Last Time Out
Seven innings were not enough in either nonconference matchup between the St. Thomas Tommies (16-31, 4-10 Summit League) and the Phoenix of Green Bay (16-28, 7-9 Horizon League), the two teams split their Tuesday afternoon doubleheader 4-3 and 5-4.

Green Bay got things started in game one with an unearned run in the first inning. That run was the only one allowed by St. Thomas starter Isabelle True

True went seven innings and allowed just two hits and three walks to give her offense the chance to take the game. The bats were kept quiet by Green Bay's run prevention unit.

The Tommies finished the game with just four hits, two of which came before the extra eighth inning, but they were not short on baserunners drawing eight walks.

Katie Goelz had a multi-hit game that included the team's only extra-base hit, a run-scoring double in the eighth inning to give the Toms a 3-1 lead.

That two-run lead was not enough as the Phoenix came through with some timely hitting, ultimately ending things with a walk-off double and taking the game, 4-3.

Things started off well for Green Bay in game two as they scored the game's first four runs. They scratched two across in the second and fourth innings against St. Thomas' game-two starter Ella Cook

Cook finished the job in the circle by pitching all eight innings and although she allowed those runs early, struck out a career-high 11 hitters and tossed four straight scoreless frames to end the Phoenix's evening.

She also got the Tommies' comeback effort started with her two-RBI double in the sixth inning, which scored Kenzie Miller and Katie Goelz. The rally continued with a run scored by Coryn Jacobson on a wild pitch, and the comeback was completed when Sydney Mickett scored Cook on a triple, the first of her career.

The game's winning blow belonged to Jacobson who, with no outs in the top of the eighth inning, scored the extra runner Katie Goelz on a single.

Brooke Ellestad and Mickett each tallied two hits while Abbi Stierlen and Coryn Jacobson got on base twice as well.

Avery Wukawitz stole a base in each game of the doubleheader. The freshman is second in the Summit League with 14 base swipes on the season.

Mickett's game-tying triple was the Tommies 14th of the season. That number currently leads the conference and is a vast improvement on the program's three triples in 2022.

Ellestad surpasses the century mark
Brooke Ellestad went 3-4 in the Tommies' first game against North Dakota. In doing so, she became the first Tommie in Division I history to reach the 100-hit milestone.

The Sophomore totaled 57 hits in her inaugural campaign and has added 50 this season with 6 games left to play. It took the shortstop just 81 games to reach 100 hits.

Of her 107 hits so far in her career 77 have been singles, 14 doubles, 2 triples, and a program-best 12 home runs. Her 14 doubles are also a DI program record.

The next closest Tommie in terms of overall career hits is Kaitlyn Raymond with 86. Based upon extrapolating her career .91 hits per game Raymond is expected to break 100 in around 13 games.

Ellestad has a career hit per game mark of 1.28. Freshman Avery Wukawitz is currently hitting at a 1.11 per game rate. At her current rate the freshman will reach 100 career hits around the 87-career game mark.
