Last Weekend Recap
The St. Thomas Softball team went 1-2 in a three-game Summit League set on a neutral site against the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota. The two teams combined for 68 runs and 80 hits over the course of a cold and windy weekend in Fargo, N.D.

The Fighting Hawks took game one, 18-13. Brooke Ellestad's three-hit, four-run, five-RBI game was not enough to propel the Toms to victory. Both Ellestad and Katie Goelz went yard on a day where the wind was whipping out. St. Thomas smacked seven extra-base hits and six players reached base safely at least twice.

The Tommies scored in six of seven innings in game two and defeated North Dakota 13-7 for their program record 15th win of the season. Ellestad homered again in the first inning to give the Tommies a 1-0 lead. Ella Cook's two-run home run gave the Tommies a 7-6 lead and the team never looked back. Seven hitters tallied multi-hit games and the team totaled eight extra-base hits.

The offensive onslaught continued in game three with an Avery Wukawitz lead-off home run to get things started. Ultimately North Dakota would come back to win the series in a 9-8 contest. Kaitlyn Raymond led the way with three runs batted in and Morgan Klein tallied her first career three-hit game.

Since the 10-0 shutout loss against Wisconsin on April 12th, the Tommies have averaged 11.5 runs per game. Before that marker the offense had averaged 3.43 runs per game.

Ellestad surpasses the century mark
Brooke Ellestad went 3-4 in the Tommies' first game against North Dakota. In doing so, she became the first Tommie in Division I history to reach the 100-hit milestone.

The Sophomore totaled 57 hits in her inaugural campaign and has added 47 this season with 11 games left to play. It took the shortstop just 81 games to reach 100 hits.

Of her 104 hits so far in her career 74 have been singles, 14 doubles, 2 triples, and a program-best 12 home runs. Her 14 doubles are also a DI program record.

The next closest Tommie in terms of overall career hits is Kaitlyn Raymond with 82. Based upon extrapolating her career .91 hits per game Raymond is expected to break 100 in around 13 games.

Ellestad has a career hit per game mark of 1.28. Freshman Avery Wukawitz is currently hitting at a 1.15 per game rate. At her current rate the freshman will reach 100 career hits around the 87 career-game mark.
