Women's Tennis takes 4-3 loss at Oral Roberts
3/17/2023 9:23:00 PM | Women's Tennis
Tulsa, Okla. -- Tommie Women's Tennis pulled out several close battles but just missed the ultimate payoff Friday in a 4-3 road loss at Oral Roberts.
Both teams came into the match with three 4-3 defeats already on their records. So it's no surprise this match went down to the wire.
The Golden Eagles (4-9 overall, 1-1 Summit) won the Nos. 3-4-5-6 singles matches to claim the team win.
St. Thomas (1-8, 0-2) -- which fell 6-1 at home to Oral Roberts last season -- won Friday's doubles point with a pair of 7-5 wins that gave them a 2-1 team edge. Olivia Paradise and Shrichandrakala Tentu won at No. 2, and Naisha Srivastav and Jannah ElNemr won at No. 3.
Marthe Degeorges rallied for a three-set comeback win at first singles. ElNemr was pushed to brink before winning in three sets at No. 2 singles. But the final point proved elusive for the Purple in yet another 4-3 defeat.
Next Up
St. Thomas plays Sunday at home against Kansas City with an 11 a.m. start at Bloomington Lifetime's 98th Street facility.
