Minneapolis, Minn. – St. Thomas Women's Hockey's 2022-'23 campaign was ended in the WCHA quarterfinals to the No. 4 ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers at Ridder Arena by a score of 6-2.

For the second time in as many nights the Tommies were outshot by the Gophers. This time by a 57-24 margin, but unlike in game one the Purple made it a tied game in the second period and had the Gophers' lead down to two into the third period.

Scoring St. Thomas' goals were Brieja Parent (1:46 into the second) and Maija Almich (2:40 in the third). Parent's goal was her fourth of the season. Nicole Vallario was credited with her third assist of the season on the play. Maija Almich's goal was her team-leading ninth of the year.

Almich was one of four Tommies to finish the season with 10+ points. Three of the four will not don the shield again for St. Thomas on the ice: Maija Almich (10), Gabby Billing (10), and Anna Solheim (12). St. Thomas' points leader, Maddy Clough (13), was held off the scoresheet in the playoffs against Minnesota.

Saskia Maurer got both starts in the series. She played two periods in game one but made it through all three in game two. She racked up 51 saves on 57 shots on net for a .895 save percentage. The sophomore goalie held the Gophers scoreless on the power play (0-4). Maurer made an astonishing 25 saves in the first period; she allowed just one goal in that frame. This was the second time this season she stopped over 50 shots. The last time was just over one week earlier when she made 53 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to the very same Minnesota skaters.

The Tommies had three power play chances (all in the third period) but could not capitalize down the stretch.

St. Thomas finished the regular season in seventh place in the WCHA with a 3-24-1 record. Overall the Tommies accumulated a 8-27-1 record in their second season in Division I.
