Tommies fall to No. 1 Ohio State 5-0 to conclude their WCHA road schedule

2/11/2023 3:08:00 PM | Women's Hockey

Columbus, Ohio – For the second time in as many days the Tommies ran headfirst into the No. 1 ranked Ohio State, but the Buckeyes did not flinch, taking down St. Thomas 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Alexa Dobchuk played all sixty minutes in goal for St. Thomas and made 46 saves in the losing effort. Dobchuk stopped .902 percent of Ohio State's 51 shots on net. Overall, the Buckeyes outshot the Tommies 51-17. Dobchuk made 16 saves in the first and third periods and added 14 in the second.

Five different players scored for the Buckeyes in front of a sold-out crowd at the Ohio State Ice Arena in Columbus. Jennifer Gardiner scored one goal and tallied two assists in her team-leading three-point performance.

The Tommies had two opportunities on the power play but were 0-2 in the game. They were called for just one penalty in the entire weekend series, but the Buckeyes pounced on their only power play opportunity in the first period.

St. Thomas defensemen Lotti Odnoga and Haley Maxwell led the way for the Tommies with three shots on goal apiece. Odnoga also tied three teammates (Hartung, Pahl, Vallario) with two blocks in the game.
