Women's Soccer on the road for one last time; matches up with South Dakota State

Women’s Soccer faces one more road test in South Dakota before coming home to close out the season
St. Paul, Minn. – The Tommie Women's Soccer Team (3-5-4 overall, 1-3-1 Summit) look to continue their winning play in one more road contest against South Dakota State (10-3, 3-1).
The Tommies were not able to come up with a victory in their first four Summit League competitions but were able to take down Oral Roberts in a 1-0 victory. They have scored eight goals in four games at home and nine goals in eight games on the road.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits sit second atop the Summit League with only one 4-2 loss to first place Denver. They have beaten their other three conference opponents, South Dakota (1-0), North Dakota State (1-0), and North Dakota (3-1).
St. Thomas is 0-2 against South Dakota State in their D1 era with a 3-1 loss in 2021 with Lexi Huber scoring the lone goal and another 3-1 loss in 2022 with Lissa Mizutani scoring the other lone goal.
The Tom's faced two Summit League road tests last week against Kansas City and Oral Roberts resulting in a 1-2 loss to the Roo's and a 1-0 win against the Golden Eagles.
Kansas City Game Recap
Lexi Huber scored the first goal of the game in the first 20 minutes of the match, assisted by Camryn Rintoul. The Purple continued to hold their own against Kansas City the final 14 minutes of the second half.
There were two unanswered goals scored in the contest during that time. It was Rintoul's first assist of the season, Huber's first goal of the season, and Kendall Quall played in all 90-minutes for the eighth game in a row.
Oral Roberts Game Recap
The Tommie's then headed further south to face the Golden Eagles, posting a win against the third ranked team in the Summit League.
They were outshot 15-7, however, goaltender Olivia Rowe was able to keep the ball out of the net with seven saveson the day. Sofia Caballero scored her first goal of the season during the match and Mariah Nguyen assisted on the goal for her second assist of the season. The purple also posted a season high 15 fouls in the game versus the Golden Eagles.
Scouting South Dakota
Brock Thompson enters his seventh season at the helm for the Jackrabbits with an 80-21-17 record, which includes a streak of 42 consecutive regular season home matches without a loss heading into the 2023 season. Under Thompsons direction, SDSU has the sixth fewest losses in Division I soccer (16), have the 10th best winning percentage (.768), and have the 13th most total wins (69) going into this season.
After coming off a postponed game against Omaha due to inclement weather conditions and a 4-2 loss to Denver, the Jackrabbits were on a three game, Summit League win streak.
South Dakota has outscored their opponents 31-12 on the season, averaging 2.38 goals per game, and outshooting them 207-85. Offensively, senior Maya Hansen a native of Savage, Minn., is their leading scorer with five goals and junior Laney Murdzek, native of Hudson, Wis., leads the Jackrabbits with five assists. The team had a season high 12 shots on goal in their 10/01 game against North Dakota.
In the net with the primary goalkeeping duties, senior Jocelyn Tanner a native of Ham Lake, Minn., has put up 1035 minutes this season with a 0.96 goals against average and a 0.732 save percentage. Tanner also tallies eight wins and three losses on the season.
