Seniors career day not enough in overtime loss at Omaha

Omaha, Neb. -- The senior duo of Jordyn Glynn and Maggie Negaard led St. Thomas Women's Basketball with career days during an 80-77 overtime loss at Omaha on Saturday afternoon.
Negaard finished with a team-high 19 points while Glynn scored 13, both setting career highs. Glynn and Negaard's 3-point shooting set up a thriller that featured 11 lead changes.
Negaard and Jo Langbehn put in the Tommies' first two baskets before the long balls began to fall. Glynn sank back-to-back 3-pointers, two of her three in the quarter to mark a single-game career high, to extend the St. Thomas lead to eight, 10-2. Three-pointers from Glynn and Scalia kept the Tommies up eight before a 6-2 Omaha run cut the lead to four, 24-20, heading into the second quarter.
After a first-possession layup, Scalia knocked down her second 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 run, a double-digit lead, and an Omaha timeout. Out of the timeout, the Mavericks scored seven straight points followed by Negaard's first 3-pointer of the game. Both teams finished with eight field goals in the quarter as the Tommies held on for a 44-39 lead at halftime.
Omaha came out with a quick 5-0 run to tie the game, 44-44, before Jade Hill scored four straight points to keep the St. Thomas lead. Jordyn Lamker put in an and-one layup to push the lead back to five, 51-46. The Mavericks followed with another run, this time of 7-0 to take its first lead of the game, 53-51.
Negaard made back-to-back 3-pointers for St. Thomas to regain the lead, one of three lead changes over the final three minutes. The Mavericks answered Negaard's shot with a 3-pointer before Glynn was fouled on a last-second 3-pointer, making two free throws, to tie the game at 59-59.
The fourth quarter featured four lead changes through the first six minutes. Faith Feuerbach made two 3-pointers during that span, both times giving the Tommies a lead. Her final 3-pointer was part of a 9-1 run, as Omaha went 0-of-4 shooting with one turnover, that pushed the lead back to four, 73-69.
Omaha scored the next two baskets to tie the game while Hill made two free throws to go ahead again, 75-73, with 43 seconds to play. Omaha put in a jumper with 29 seconds left while a missed St. Thomas 3-pointer led to overtime.
Glynn put in a second-chance layup to begin overtime and score the final Tommie points of the game. The Purple finished the quarter 0-of-5 shooting from the field, including a last second 3-point heave.
The Tommies shot 44.4 percent from the field (28-63) and went 10-of- 23 from 3-point range, its most 3-pointers since sinking 11 Nov. 12 against South Carolina State. The Purple also went 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Omaha won the rebound battle, 38-33, including 11 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second-chance points.
Hill followed Negaard in scoring with 16 points, her most since scoring a season-high 24 points Nov. 19. Langbehn also scored in double figures with 12 points, while adding seven rebounds. Langbehn tied with Glynn and Negaard for the team lead in rebounds.
St. Thomas returns to Schoenecker Arena for a three-game home stand, beginning Jan. 12 against Kansas City and Jan. 14 against Oral Roberts.
