The Tommies slow down #3/4 Gophers in last two periods but could not come back after a slow start falling 5-0

Minneapolis, Minn. – The Tommies held #3/4 Minnesota to just two goals in the final 40 minutes Friday night at Ridder Arena but could not catch up after falling behind three in the first period, ultimately falling to the Gophers 5-0.

The Gophers scored early and often in the opening period against the Tommies. Minnesota got one by Alexa Dobchuk in the first two minutes. They grabbed two more goals in the period on 18 shots on goal.

Grace Zumwinkle scored her 17^th goal of the season and then added her 18^th nine minutes later. Abbey Murphy scored the third and final Gopher goal of the frame.

The second period played much closer than the first. St. Thomas blasted out to a 3-2 shots on goal advantage through the first five minutes. The Tommies went one for two on the penalty kill eventually giving up the lone goal of the period with 1:57 remaining.

Minnesota added one more goal in the third period on 12 more shots on goal. St. Thomas had one power play opportunity with 1:50 to go but could not capitalize.

Alexa Dobchuk finished the game with 41 saves in net for the Tommies.

St. Thomas falls to 7-15-1 and 2-13-1 in WCHA play.
