Oxbow, N.D. - Owen Rexing and transfer Glavine Schugel shot even-par 72s and are tied for seventh after their Tommie Men's Golf debut rounds Tuesday to help the Purple into second place at the halfway point of the 36-hole North Dakota State Invite.

The host Bison, playing their second event of the fall, put six players under par and lead at 16-under 272, led by a 64 by Nate Deziel.

St. Thomas shot 3-over 291, and North Dakota shot 12-over 300.

The final 18 holes will be played Wednesday.

Rexing, a freshman from Rosemount, Minn., birdied three of his first eight holes before closing at even par on the round. Schugel, a junior from New Ulm, Minn., who played his last two seasons at St. John's, carded five birdies and five bogeys on his round.

Senior Matthew Raab (five birdies) and freshman Charlie Nasby (eagle, five birdies) also had ups and downs en route to shooting one-over 73s, and are tied for ninth place.

The nest best scorers for the Toms were junior Matthew Armstrong at 74; senior Matthew Garside at 76; junior transfer Will Frazier at 77; and freshman Gordon Lu at 78.

This is the first of four fall tournaments for the Purple.
