Men's Soccer falls 3-1 at California Baptist

Riverside, Calif. - Host California Baptist scored twice midway through the first half and went on to post a 3-1 win over St. Thomas in Thursday night's men's soccer game on the Lancers' field. It was the 2022 season-opening game for both teams.

CBU finished 11-4-3 last season, including a 4-1 road victory at St. Thomas. The Lancers scored in the 23rd, 28th and 51st minutes here Thursday, with the second score coming via a converted penalty kick.
 
The Toms got on the scoreboard late as Tommie freshman Oliver Bieleveldt scored his first college goal via penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

CBU had a 7-5 edge in shots on goal and a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Tommies used 17 players including seven newcomers. Sophomore transfer Ben Schliemann had four saves in goal over 90:00.

St. Thomas closes its trip with a Sunday game at UC Riverside.
