Moll scores in 10K for Women on Summit T&F opening day

Tulsa, Okla. - Senior Olivia Moll placed sixth in the 10,000 meters in 38:03.7 to score three team points and lead Tommie Women's Track and Field on Thursday's opening day of the 2022 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Three of 21 women's events were decided on Thursday -- the hammer, javelin and the 10,000 meters. The Tommie women have no entrants in the heptathlon, which started Thursday and concludes Friday.
There will be six final events and several prelim races on Friday, with 12 more finals contested on Saturday.
The Purple are tied for fifth place with Western Illinois with three points each. North Dakota State leads with 55 points followed by South Dakota (29), North Dakota (18) and South Dakota State (9).
In Thursday's javelin, Tommie freshman Alyssa Whaley placed 10th in a career-best 125-11. Freshman Brianna Schoenrock placed 14th in 105-10.
In the hammer throw, St. Thomas was unable to crack the top eight to score team points, but three Toms had career-bests: senior Megan Gehrke threw 155-7 for 11th place; sophomore Emma Scott took 15th in 135-5; and freshman Hailey Shimon was 16th in 134-4.
