Game Notes - Softball matches up with Omaha

St. Paul, Minn. - St. Thomas stays at home to welcome in the Mavs from Omaha. The Toms will play a two-game Friday series with the Mavs and a one-game slate on Saturday.

Chasing No. 700
Coach Trotter is now 15 wins away from 700 career victories. 676 of Trotter's wins came with Missouri Western at the Division II level. Trotter earned her first Division I win in a 6-5 victory against Ball State on Feb. 11.

Last Time Out
St. Thomas played South Dakota last weekend and picked up a win in the three-game series. A Sunday comeback thriller capped the series, as the team was down three and rattled off four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sydney Mickett helped power the team on Sunday against the Coyotes with a 4-4 performance and three RBI.

Mickett Made it Happen
Mickett's four base hits against South Dakota tied a program Division I-record for hits in a game. The highlight of the game for Mickett came in the bottom of the seventh, when she walked off the win with a two-RBI single to left field. Four of Mickett's five base hits this season came on Sunday. The three runs driven in by Mickett were the first RBIs of her career.

Baniecke's Banner Weekend
Offensively, Megan Baniecke set/tied numerous Division I career highs, including in hits (2), doubles (1), and home runs (1). Baniecke had two-multi hit performances over the three games against South Dakota. In total, she tallied four hits, scored two runs, drove in two runs, and hit two home runs over the three games.

Climbing the Summit
As a team, St. Thomas is in the top half in the Summit League in runs (135), hits (233), home runs (25), and RBI (118). Brooke Ellestad, a one-time Summit League Player of the Week, continues to lead the conference in batting average (.422) and hits (46). Ellestad is also in the top five in OBP (.449) and OPS (1.091). Kaitlyn Raymond, the leadoff hitter for the Tommies, is tied with Maddie Grad for first in the conference in sacrifice bunts (3). Christina Crawford is top seven in the Summit in innings (90.1) and strikeouts (72) and is eighth in wins (5). St. Thomas has won at least one game in each Summit League series this season.

Series History
This weekend marks the first time that Omaha and St. Thomas have played each other.

Scouting Report
Omaha sits in second place in the league standings with a 6-3 record. The Mavericks are one game behind South Dakota State and one game ahead of South Dakota. The Mavericks swept their first conference series since 2016 last weekend with three wins at North Dakota. Jamie White was tabbed the Summit League TicketSmarter Player of the Week after going 7-for-13 at the plate over the weekend. She hit two homers, tallied seven RBI, and scored two runs. White leads Omaha and is second in the league hitting .391 on the season. She's tied seventh with six homers this year. Meyer continues to dominate the league and rank nationally in the circle. She has a 1.32 ERA ranking first in the league and 21st in the country. Meyer only allows 3.5 hits per seven innings ranking first in the league and seventh in the nation. Her nine shutouts leads the league and is third in the NCAA. Meyer has 162 strikeouts ranking first in the league and 21st in the nation, while her 11.2 strikeouts per seven innings ranks first in the league and 12th in the NCAA. Sydney Ross has caught 10 batters stealing this season. It's the second most in the Summit League and ranks 26th in the country.
