Men's Golf finishes second at Stampede at the Creek

Elkhorn, Neb. - St. Thomas men's golf finished in second at the Stampede at the Creek, jumping Omaha, on the third round of the tourney. The Tommies posted a 302 (+14) on Tuesday.
 
Over the front nine, the Tommies posted three birdies, coming on the sixth (330 yds.) by Cole Nasby and on the seventh (559 yds.) and ninth (384 yds.) by Zach Mulhearn. On the back nine, five different St. Thomas golfer notched a birdie, including Mulhearn, who amassed three different birdies (and five on the day).
 
Matthew Armstrong led the Tommies on day two with a +2 showing, including an even performance with all pars on holes 1-9. C. Nasby (+3), Ben Frazzini (+4), and Mulhearn (+5) all had their scores count for the third round.
 
Jack Nasby finished +7 and Matthew Garside went +11 on the day. C. Nasby, Armstrong, and Frazzini all finished the tournament in the top 25, including C. Nasby (t-5th) and Armstrong (t-9th) who finished in the top 10 for the two-day tourney.
 
The Tommies have finished in second in both trips to the Stampede at the Creek, the first one coming in the fall portion of the schedule.

"Coach Kline and I are very happy with our team performance this week," said head coach Matt Rachey. "Taking second place in that field was a huge step for us. Our guys have put in the work and it was fun to see it pay off. We will continue to build and get ready for the Summit League Championships in a couple weeks."
