Men's Golf tied for third following day one at Stampede at the Creek

Elkhorn, Neb. - St. Thomas men's golf played 36 holes on Monday to open the Stampede at the Creek. St. Thomas finished day one tied for third place following a strong second round. The top four scores for each round were counted by St. Thomas.
 
Over the entirety of round one, the Tommies accumulated 13 birdies, including three different golfers tallying three birdies. Matthew Garside (-2) led the Tommies over the first 18 holes, followed by Matthew Armstrong (-1), Cole Nasby (+1), and Ben Frazzini (+3). While their scores were not counted, Jack Nasby (+6) and Zach Mulhearn (+7) were the fifth and sixth finishers for the team in round one.
 
Armstrong, C. Nasby, and Mulhearn all opened the second round with a birdie over the first four holes. C. Nasby finished tops on the team in the second round with a -4, birdying six holes, including four over holes 10-18. J. Nasby was -1 over the mid-18, finishing with four birdies. Armstrong and Frazzini both tied in round two with a +1 performance, as Armstrong totaled four birdies, and Frazzini finished with two. Garside (+7) and Mulhearn (+2) did not have their scores count for round two, but the pair did combine for four birdies.
 
The Tommies' second round score of 285 was the best round score for any spring competition this season and the third-best second round score of the season. The first two rounds of the Stampede at the Creek were the best two-round showings for the team this spring.
