Women's Tennis defeats Trinity 6-1 in Orlando

Orlando, Fla. - The St. Thomas Women's Tennis Team picked up its second win the three days in Orlando, as it downed Trinity (Conn.) 6-1 on Wednesday.
"Today, I saw a team that had confidence," said Head Coach Lois Arterberry. "They went after it and didn't let up at all. I saw everyone step up to get the job done through injury and fatigue. It has been a long five days of tennis and travel and I'm very proud of how we rose to the occasion as a team to get this 6-1 win."
In singles action, sophomore Jannah El Nemr earned a 6-2, 6-3 victoy in the No. 1 line. Freshman Shrichandrakala Tentu earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory in line No. 2, senior Broke Hapuku claimed a three-set victory in the fourth line by scores of 6-4, 1-6, 1-0. Sophmore Monterey Knewtson won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 line and freshman Abigail Brendel won by default in the No. 6 spot.
In double action, Tentu and freshman Madeline Bremel won the first line 6-7 with a 7-4 victory in the tiebreaker. El Nemr and Knewtson earned a 6-2 victory to claim the doubles point.
The Tommies travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., tomorrow to face Bethune-Cookman in their fourth and final day of competition in Florida before they return to Summit League action for the last three matches of the season.
