Softball suffers sweep on final day of Racer Classic

Murray, Ky. - St. Thomas softball (3-16) suffered a sweep on Monday to Evansville (14-7), 6-0, and Murray State (14-8), 7-0, at the Racer Classic.
Freshman outfielder enjoyed a career day at the plate against the Purple Aces, going 4-4, her first career four-hit game. Previously, Raymond's career-high in base hits sat at two, which came in three different games.
Sophomore first baseman/outfielder Katie Goelz received the start at first base and tallied two base hits, giving her the first base knocks of her Division I career. Sarah Hudson and Coryn Jacobson also added base hits for the Tommies against Evansville.
Megan Baniecke, a senior righty, struck out four batters in six innings.
Christina Crawford, fresh off a 19-strikeout performance on Sunday, added six more to her tournament total (25) against the Racers. Senior Kendall Hopkins tossed a scoreless inning in relief of Crawford, striking out one.
Offensively against Murray State, St. Thomas was held to two base hits, one of which came from Hudson. Sophomore Sydney Mickett garnered her first Division I base hit on a double down the left field line.
Hudson has recorded at least one base hit in four of the last six games. She is second on the team this season with 16 base hits and a .314 batting average.
