3/11/2022 12:25:00 PM | Baseball
It will be the battle of the Purple as Tommie Baseball (2-8 overall) travels to Evanston, Ill., for a Sunday March 13 seven-inning and nine-inning doubleheader against the Big Ten's Northwestern Wildcats (2-10). First pitch is 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday games in the weekend set were called off due to cold weather in the forecast.
These are the NU's home openers after playing its first 12 contests on the road.
The Toms have six one- or two-run losses among their eight defeats. Last weekend, the Purple lost 3-1 and 3-2 at Creighton, the latter game lasting 15 innings.
On the Mound
St. Thomas starting pitchers for this Sunday will likely come from LHP Graham Laubscher (0-2) and either RHPs Walker Retz, Devon Schewe or Kolby Gartner.
The Wildcats are expected to open with either freshman LHP Sean Sullivan; sophomore RHP Kellen Pate; or senior RHPs Mike Doherty or Michael Farinelli.
