St. Paul, Minn. – The St. Thomas Men's Basketball Team honored seven seniors in their final collegiate home game – those seven seniors combined for 78 points to lift the Tommies to a 95-74 win over Omaha, the Purple's 10th win of the year.

"We're thrilled to get a victory tonight, on senior night, where we honored seven players that are incredibly special," said Head Coach Dr. Johnny Tauer. "It was great to get a win in our final game of the season in our first Division I season. I thought our guys displayed a lot of toughness against a really physical and athletic Nebraska Omaha team. I was particularly please with the way our guys took care of the ball and defended as a unit against a team that's really explosive offensively. It was also special to have so many alumni at the game and honor them at halftime. The legacy that they've helped build in Division III and what our seniors have done as we transition to Division I is laying a foundation for what we think is going to an incredible story in college basketball. We're very grateful for all of the fan support throughout the season."

In a competitive first half, the largest lead by either team through the first 15 minutes of play was four points, 7-3, St. Thomas early in the ball game.

The Purple trailed the Mavericks, 25-24 with 7:32 to play in the half before the Tommies went on a 13-4 run to open a 37-29 lead with 4:39 to play in the first half. The Tommies went on a 10-7 run through the final 4:39 of the first half to take a 47-36 lead into halftime.

Individually, senior G Anders Nelson led the way in the first half with nine points. A total of seven Tommies contributed points in the opening half.

The Tommies continued their hot streak into the second half, outscoring the Mavericks 22-14 through the first eight minutes of the second half to open a 69-50 lead with 12 minutes to play.
