Newcomer Tentu scores lone point for St. Thomas Tennis at Northern Iowa

Waterloo, Iowa – The St. Thomas Women's Tennis Team (0-5), fell to the University of Northern Iowa (1-4) by a score of 6-1 Friday afternoon at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
"Today we had our first semester mid-year student Shrichandrakala wining our lone singles match," said Head Coach Lois Arterberry. "She faced a lot of adversity getting here only arriving to St. Thomas last Friday and competing in her first collegiate match today. She showed great fight on the court and set the example for the others of what it means to be confident. Jannah fell in a tough three setter which could have gone anyway. Though we are still working on our confidence within the team, I saw a glimpse of what could be if we, as a team, just decides to go take it."
Freshman Shrichandrakala Tentu, a newcomer to the program, scored the lone point for the Tommies in the No. 3 spot, defeating Andrijana Brkic 6-4, 6-4. Tentu just joined the program from Chennai, India
In the No. 1 spot, sophomore Jannah El Nemr forced three sets with scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
"We are battling some injuries at the moment with a couple of players out and we are hoping in a couple weeks to have the full team back," Arterberry added.
St. Thomas returns to action Saturday in Waterloo as it faces SIUE – the match is slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
