St. Paul, Minn. - St. Thomas women's hockey (5-21-1, 3-18-1 WCHA) faces a staunch road test at No. 4 Minnesota Duluth (18-9-0, 15-8-0 WCHA) this weekend. The series kicks off on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Duluth, Minn.

Last Time Out
The Tommies split a home-and-home series with St. Cloud State. The team picked up a road comeback win on Saturday, before falling 3-2 at home on Sunday. The Purple attempted a late third period comeback in Sunday's game before being stymied on the last second shot attempt. St. Thomas players amassed nine points (three goals and six assists) in Saturday's win.

Matching Up with the Bulldogs
The Tommies are 0-2-0 against UMD this season. St. Thomas lost, 3-0, in game one against the Bulldogs on Oct. 23. In the second game of the previous series between the two teams, Minnesota Duluth totaled seven goals in a 7-0 win. UMD is 9-2-0 in its last 11 games. The Bulldogs have moved up to No. 4 in the national polls.

Going for Gold
St. Thomas' head coach Joel Johnson, and freshmen Saskia Maurer and Nicole Vallario are representing the school in the Winter Olympics. Johnson is leading the U.S. women's hockey program. Maurer and Vallario are playing for the Swiss national team.

Promersberger Breaks the Ice
Abby Promersberger scored the inaugural goal in team NCAA DI-era history in a 4-1 loss at Ohio State on Sept. 25. Anna Solheim and Megan Cornell added the first two assists in St. Thomas Division I history on Promersberger's goal.

The team has played 12 games that have been decided by two points or less this season. The Tommies are 5-6-1 in such games. Both games in the previous series against the Huskies were decided by one point. 15 different skaters have now scored a goal for St. Thomas. The Toms rallied from down 2-0 in the third period against SCSU to win.

The Tommies in NCAA Stats
