St. Paul, Minn. -- St. Thomas Volleyball plays its lone match of the weekend Saturday, Oct. 15 against Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill. The Tommies and Leathernecks are scheduled for first serve at 12 p.m. from Western Hall.

Tommie Watch
St. Thomas continues a four-match road trip at Western Illinois after starting with a 3-0 loss (24-26, 19-25, 21-25) Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Kansas City.
 
Freshman Allie Kopp recorded her team-high fifth double-double of the season with a team-best 17 digs and 13 assists. Sophomore Eva Fitzgerald led the Tommies with 14 assists while sophomore Lauren Galvin paced the squad with 11 kills against the Roos.
 
The Tommies recorded a season-best .228 hitting percentage against Kansas City, its third match hitting above .200.
 
Fitzgerald is 30 assists away from 400 in her career and is two shy of reaching her single-season mark from 2021.
 
Entering Thursday, the Tommies rank second in the league with 1.75 opponent blocks per set, seventh with 1.85 blocks per set and 14.06 digs per set, tied for seventh with 1.34 service aces per set and eighth with 16.68 opponent digs per set. Graduate student Carrie Rutledge ranks fifth in the Summit League with 3.64 digs per set, freshman Emma Goerger ranks tied for eighth with 0.96 blocks per set and Galvin ranks 11th with 3.08 kills per set.
 
Series History
The Tommies are 0-2 against Western Illinois all-time, losing 3-0 Oct. 5, 2021 in St. Paul, Minn., and 3-1 Nov. 20, 2021 in Macomb.
 
Scouting Western Illinois
Western Illinois is 4-16 overall and 0-8 in the Summit League after losing its 11th straight match Oct. 11 at Oral Roberts. The Leathernecks fell in straight sets (13-25, 20-25, 13-25) in Tulsa, Okla.
 
The Leathernecks are hitting .147 with 11.10 kills and 10.34 assists per set. WIU is 42nd in the nation and second in the league with 15.73 digs per set. Sophomore Brittany Wulf leads the Summit League and is 31st in the country with 0.50 service aces per set, and she is fourth in the league and 45th in the nation with 10.85 attacks per set. Sophomore Karli Wenzel is second in the league and 80th in the country with 4.34 digs per set.
