Swimming & Diving tallies seven first-place finishes on Saturday

St. Paul, Minn. - The St. Thomas men's and women's swimming & diving teams battled against the Coyotes for the second-consecutive day on Saturday.
 
In Saturday's dual meet, the women's team fell 206-148, while the men's team suffered a 214-91 result.
 
Freshman swimmer Joe Rudd notched first for the men's squad in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Senior Andrew Godfrey, a diver out of Monomonee Falls, Wis., tallied a second-place score of 179.50 in the 1 Meter Dive. The quad of AJ Carollo, Rudd, Jake Appino, and Foti tallied third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Foti, a freshman from Waukesha, Wis., also notched first in the 500 Yard Freestyle and second place in the 1650 Yard Freestyle. John Gahnz earned second place for the men's squad in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
 
Freshman Skyler Leverenz finished the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:55.70, earning first. Leverenz also finished first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.19. Senior Anna Astrup collected first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 59.86. Continuing the women's run of first-place finishes, Grace Urkiel tallied the top spot in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. The women raced to first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Liddy Ohe, Ashley Plantenberg, Liz Thull, and Taylor Rau combined for second place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Freshman Elizabeth Bonneville, competing in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, finished with a time of 18:20.91 and third place.
