Swimming & Diving caps Friday night dual against South Dakota

St. Paul, Minn. - The St. Thomas men's and women's swimming & diving teams returned to the home pool to face off against Summit League opponent South Dakota on Friday.
 
After the first day against USD, the women's team trailed, 121-115, while the men's squad was down, 149-67.
 
On the men's side, AJ Carollo, Joe Rudd, Michael Scripp, and Alex Foti (3:32.35) finished second in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. Casey McGrath raced to a time of 49.51 in the 100 Yard Freestyle for St. Thomas. Andrew Akermann, a junior from Maple Grove, Minn., tallied a third-place time of 1:47.09 in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Joe Rudd and John Gahnz finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 Yard IM.
 
Skyler Leverenz, a freshman from Lakeville, Minn., tallied a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:54.70. Sophomore Sophia Becker also recorded a first-place finish for the Tommies, coming in the 100 Yard Freestyle. In the 500 Yard Freestyle, freshman Elizabeth Bonneville notched first place. As a relay unit, the women's squad earned first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:38.82). Sophomore Grace Urkiel finished with a first-place tally of 1:07.42 for a finals time in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. The quad of Liddy Ohe, Taylor Rau, Lily Linden, and Megan West finished second in the 400 Yard Medley Relay for the Toms. Peyton Eckman finished second in the 3 Meter Dive (2230.55) and third in the 1 Meter Dive with a score of 227.50. Sophomore Carly Wolf recorded a third-place time of 2:15.08 in the 200 Yard IM.
