Volleyball welcomes seven signees for 2022-23

St. Thomas Volleyball coach Thanh Pham announced Wednesday the signing of seven student-athletes to join the program for the 2022-23 academic year:
Liv Anderson, 5-11 OH, Ankeny (Iowa) Centennial HS… Iowa Powerplex club
Academic all-conference across all sports, plans on a major in Health and Exercise Science at St. Thomas… in volleyball played on state champion team and two other state tournament qualifiers, is a three-year starters and twice selected all-conference… in basketball is three-year letter winner and played on two state tournament teams… in track and field ran at state on two place winning 4x200 relay units and member of school-record 4x200 team… member of National Council of Youth Leadership and National Honor Society… her parents Holly (basketball) and Taylor Anderson (football) competed in college athletics at Wartburg College.
Coach Pham comment: "Liv plays a complete game and adds depth to our talented outside group. We are excited to add her experience."
Maria Chapman, 5-5, DS, East Ridge (Minn.) HS… Northern Lights club
Plans on an Exercise Science major at St. Thomas… three-time letter winner and team co-captain in volleyball, helped 2021 Raptors team reach first state tournament in program history… parents Lynn and Cory Chapman competed in college athletics and later were college coaches in volleyball and soccer, respectively.
Coach Pham's comment: "Maria is one of the smartest athletes and will add plenty of ball control to our team."
Emma Goerger, 6-4 MB, Wayzata (Minn.) HS… Minnesota Select club
Elite student received AAU Academic All-America honors, plans on a major in Neuroscience at St. Thomas… twice all-conference honoree, played on Wayzata's state champion team in 2019 and helps lead Trojans' unbeaten team into the 2021 state tournament.
Coach Pham comment: "Emma is a highly intelligent and competitive middle that can find ways to score. She will be a great addition."
Keya Luta Win Hunt, 5-11 Setter, Breck (Minn.) HS… Minnesota Select club
Honor student in classroom, undecided on college major… Conference Player of the Year and team MVP and captain in volleyball; 5X letter winner and all-conference and all-area honoree… enrolled member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin.
Coach Pham comment: "Keya is very competitive and a hard worker. She's played at Northern Lights VBC as well as MN Select VBC. Her knowledge of the game will serve her well at the next level."
Allie Kopp, 5-7, S-DS, Champlin Park (Minn.) HS… Minnesota Select club
Elite academic achiever, will major in Business Human Resources at St. Thomas… team captain, 3X letter winner, all-conference and all-area for conference champion team… this fall recorded 941 assists, 305 digs and 49 aces... plays for nationally-ranked club team and 2X USA high performance team member… dad, Dan Kopp, played football at St. Thomas.
Coach Pham comment: "Allie has great hands and is a very good passer. We're excited to add a versatile player like Allie to our roster."
Megan Wetter, 6-0, OH, Monticello (Minn.) HS, Minnesota Select club
Undecided on academic major at St. Thomas… Volleyball all-state and state tournament qualifier in 2021; four-year starter, twice all-conference: brother Austin plays basketball at St. John's University.
Coach Pham comment: "Megan has played club volleyball at the open level and is former teammate of both Allie Kopp and Emma Goerger, who are also joining our team. Megan is a natural blocker and has a heavy arm."
Ava Wild, 6-0 OH, Fargo (N.D.) Davies HS… Summit club
Plans to major in Business at St. Thomas… volleyball all-stater, played for state champion team and three-time state-tourney qualifier… became school's third player to surpass 1,000 career kills and ranks second on school list for most aces in one match… played on state runner-up basketball team and competed on state runner-up track and field team and contributed fourth place in the long jump at state meet.
Coach Pham comment: "Ava is a well-rounded athlete that will add height and length to our roster. Her work ethic and attitude are top notch, and we're happy she's joining the Tommie family."

A perennial top-25 ranked Division III program, Tommie Volleyball is closing out its first season of Division I competition this fall in The Summit League.
St. Thomas is making the unprecedented move of all of its varsity sports from Division III to D-I in the same season. Besides its 18 teams competing in The Summit League, St. Thomas also has programs in the Pioneer Football League, WCHA Women's Hockey and CCHA Men's Hockey.
