Schmidt’s record weekend garners Summit League weekly honors

Sophomore outside hitter brings in first career Offensive Peak Performer of the Week
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Outside hitter Anya Schmidt's record-breaking weekend helped the sophomore garner her first career Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday.
Schmidt, from Rogers, Minn., is the first Tommie to earn the league's peak performer of the week award in 2026 after leading the team with 4.30 kills per set and 4.75 points per set on a .239 hitting percentage. She added 3 service aces along with 19 digs and 2 total blocks, to go with a .949 receiving percentage on 78 attempts, on the defensive end.
Schmidt's weekend was highlighted by the opening match of the Marquette Tournament in Milwaukee, a five-set loss to Western Michigan, where she broke the program's single-match records with 29 points and 25 kills. She hit .358 from the net, only 6 errors on 53 attacks, while all 3 of her aces on the weekend came in the match. Schmidt also recorded 1 solo blocks and a perfect serve-receive percentage on 47 attempts against the Broncos.
Schmidt followed with another team-high 18 kills during another five-set loss, this time to the host Marquette, for her seventh straight match with at least 12 kills. She totaled 10 digs on the defensive end to mark her third double-double of the season and eighth of her career.
St. Thomas opens Summit League play Sept. 24 and 26 as it travels to Fargo, N.D., Thursday to take on North Dakota State before heading to Grand Forks, N.D., Saturday to face North Dakota.
