Volleyball closes S.D. trip with loss to Jackrabbits

Host South Dakota State used a .532 attack percentage and eight aces to lead its 3-0 defeat of Tommie Volleyball in Summit League play Saturday night in Brookings, S.D.
The Jackrabbits (11-6 overall, 3-3 Summit), who start four seniors, received 13 kills and a .600 attack clip from senior Crystal Burk.
Freshman Lauren Galvin had 10 kills for the Tommies (2-15, 1-6). Carrie Rutledge had nine digs; and Eva Fitzgerald chipped in 11 assists.
Coach Thanh Pham used 14 players in the match, including eight freshmen and three sophomores.
The Toms return home to play Oct. 14 and Oct. 16 contests against Oral Roberts (7 p.m.) and Kansas City (3 p.m.).
