Another close loss stings Women's Hockey

Augsburg used an empty-net score to close out a 3-1 home win over St. Thomas Women's Hockey in Saturday's MIAC play in Minneapolis.
The Tommies (12-9-4 overall, 11-6-1 MIAC) were already locked into the No. 4 playoff seed after Friday's 3-2 loss to Augsburg. St. Thomas took five conference losses by one goal or by two goals with an empty-net tally.
The Auggies (20-5, 15-3) ran their win streak to 10 as they outshot the Purple 41-15.
Allie Monrean scored a first-period goal and Eryn Cooley had 39 saves for St. Thomas.
Fourth-seed St. Thomas will play host to fifth-seed St. Mary's Thursday Feb. 27 in Mendota Heights. That contest will start at 3:30 p.m., in Mendota Heights.
