Women's Soccer erupts in 4-1 home win over Pointers

No. 19-ranked St. Thomas Women's Soccer opened its 2019 season with Friday afternoon's 4-1 home victory over visiting UW-Stevens Point on a sunny, breezy day at South Field.
The Tommies (1-0) never trailed. They posted a 13-3 edge in shots on goal and received points from five different players.
In her collegiate debut, St. Thomas freshman Callie Haertle scored two second-half insurance goals after the Pointers scored to pull within 2-1. Tessa Trettel and Mari Ferrer-Lugo scored midway through the first half for a 2-0 lead.
St. Thomas is off competition for the next seven days until a Sept. 7-8 trip to St. Louis for two games.
