Offense stalls in 2-0 home loss for Men's Hockey

Aurora scored a power-play goal eight minutes into the first period and went on to top host St. Thomas 2-0 in non-conference men's hockey play Saturday afternoon in Mendota Heights.
The Spartans (9-5-1) added an empty-net goal in the final 65 seconds,
Freshman goalie Henry Baribeau stopped 35 of 36 shots for the Tommies (6-5-1), who took a rare shutout loss and had a 36-21 deficit in shots on goal. Baribeau and teammates killed off five power plays.
It was the first time St. Thomas was shutout in 88 games, covering parts of four seasons. It was also the first home shutout in 39 games.
The Purple are idle until Jan. 10-11 when they play St. Mary's.
