Women's Hoops shooting... even better than 'Superior'

11/20/2019 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball

Sophomore guard Amber Darge scored a career-best 20 points and No. 4-ranked Tommie Women's Basketball shot 67 percent from the floor in Wednesday night's 78-60 non-conference win over UW-Superior.

In their home opener, sophomore Brynne Rolland closed with 17 points, sophomore Shayla Wallin added 10 points and six rebounds, and junior Macy Hatlestad added eight points and eight assists. Allie Spaulding came off the bench to contribute 11 points, three rebounds and two steals.

The Tommies (3-0) outscored the Yellowjackets 27-9 from 3-point range and sank 30-of-45 shots from the floor.

Superior, the winner of the last four UMAC Conference championships, closed the first half on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 40-30. But a 10-0 Tommie run pushed the lead back to 20 points, and the visitors never got closer than 15 down the stretch.

St. Thomas opens MIAC play Saturday at St. Catherine.
