Men's Hockey erupts, salvages 1-1 split in Wisconsin

Gavin Payne scored three goals and Brett Gravelle added two goals and two assists to lead Tommie Men's Hockey to an 8-3 win at Concordia-Mequon and 1-1 split on a season-opening weekend trip to Wisconsin.
Justn Kelley added two goals. The game was tied 2-2 late in the first period before the Toms scored five times in the next 23:43 on the clock.
St. Thomas plays next Friday night at UW-Stout.

Logan Halladay had 31 saves and host Milwaukee School of Engineering received goals from five different players in Friday night's 5-2 win over St. Thomas in the season-opening game for both teams.
Johnny Panvica scored a power-play goal in the opening 70 seconds, and Brett Gravelle scored a power-play goal in the final five seconds, but the Purple offense was silent the rest of the game. The Raiders scored three first-period goals and never looked back.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at Concordia-Mequon (2 p.m.) to close the trip.
