Ten first years and five NCAA transfers enter the fold
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas men's hockey head coach Rico Blasi has announced the addition of 15 newcomers to the 2025-26 Tommie roster.
The Tommies finished the 2024-25 season as one of the hottest teams in college hockey with a 15-4-1 record down the stretch toward their first Mason Cup Final game. They return 13 players from that 19-14-5 squad and will have to replace 58 goals (52% of all goals scored) and 144 points (49% of all points tallied) of production.
Ten of the new faces on the 2025-26 team will be first-years and the remaining five have transferred in from other NCAA hockey programs.
Bauer Berry | 6-4 | Defenseman | Grand Forks, N.D. | Muskegon (USHL)
Selected by the Edmonton Oilers (Round 7, Pick 218) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft… skated in 145 total games across three seasons with the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) scored four goals, added 23 assists, and 27 points… finished the 2023-24 season with a +12 rating and the 2024-25 season with a +9 rating… Member of the 2025 USHL Clark Cup Championship team.
Alex Gaffney | 5-9 | Forward | West Orange, N.J. | Harvard (NCAA)
Played 100 games across four seasons for the Harvard Crimson (ECAC) and won one ECAC championship in 2021-22, played in 32 games that season and tallied seven goals, eight assists, and 15 points… in total added 22 goals, 19 assists, and 41 points… skated in just four games in 2024-25 due to injury… played for three teams in the USHL across three seasons (Waterloo, Omaha, Muskegon)… added 42 goals, 42 assists, and 84 points in 155 games… skated in four games for the USNTDP team in 2018-19.
Josh Giuliani | 6-1 | Forward | Plymouth, Minn. | Dubuque (USHL)
Skated in 125 games in the USHL for the Dubuque Fighting Saints… scored 33 goals, added 32 assists, and tallied 65 points… coming off his most productive season of junior hockey with 44 points in 60 games… played with fellow Tommie incoming freshman Lucas Van Vliet in 2024-25… added 61 points in 27 games his final season as captain at Maple Grove High in 2021-22.
Dylan Godbout | 5-11 | Forward | Woodbury, Minn. | Ohio State (NCAA)
Skated in 14 games for the Ohio State Buckeyes with one assist last season… played in 89 total games for the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL)... scored 19 goals, added 49 assists, and tallied 68 points… won a Minnesota State High School hockey title with Hill Murray in 2019-20, played in 31 games that season and tallied 28 points… crossed over briefly with Tommie captain Lucas Wahlin in 2018-19 at Hill Murray… added 55 points in 31 games his final season as captain at Hill Murray in 2021-22.
Hayes Hundley | 6-3 | Defenseman | Upper Arlington, Ohio | Fargo (USHL)
Skated in 60 games for the Fargo Force (USHL) with four goals, 12 assists, and 16 points in 2024-25… skated in 55 games for the Johnstown Tomahawks (NAHL) with three goals, eight assists, and 11 points in 2023-24… played in Fargo with fellow incoming freshman Luke Schelter.
Will Ingemann | 5-11 | Goaltender | Plymouth, Minn. | Penticton (BCHL)
Played in 66 regular season games for the Penticton Vees of the BCHL with a 46-11-7 record behind a 2.20 goals against average and .905 save percentage… played in an additional 24 playoff games with a 16-6-1 record, 1.71 goals against average, and .926 save percentage… was named to the BCHL All-Rookie team in 2023-24 and held the best goals against average in the league (1.85)… named a Second Team All-Star in 2024-25 and earned his second consecutive Wally Forslund Memorial Trophy for the best combined goals against average… played 19 games behind Tommie defenseman Carson Peters in 2020-21 at Wayzata High… played with fellow incoming freshman Attila Lippai in 2023-24 for Penticton.

Skated in 139 total games for the Madison Capitols of the USHL across three seasons with 16 goals, 47 assists, and 63 points… coming off his most productive season of junior hockey with 43 points in 67 games in 2024-25… played three seasons with fellow incoming freshman, Attila Lippai at Cretin-Derham Hall from 2020-23… played one season with fellow newcomer Carsen Musser in Madison (2023-24).

Skated in 211 games while playing for the Portland Winterhawks and Kelowna Rockets of the WHL with 34 goals, 44 assists, and 78 points… played 54 games for the Fargo Force of the USHL last season with 10 goals, 19 assists, and 29 points… played alongside fellow newcomer, Hayes Hundley, while in Fargo.

Skated in 60 games for the Arizona State Sun Devils and scored 13 goals, added 22 assists, and tallied 35 points… produced a collegiate career-high 24-point season for the Sun Devils in 2023-24… member of the 2021-22 USHL Clark Cup Champion Sioux City Musketeers where he played 68 games and added 28 goals, 31 assists, and 59 points.

Skated in 59 games with CCHA foe Michigan Tech across two seasons… added one goal, 12 assists, and 13 points while finishing with a +15 rating… member of the 2023-24 CCHA Champion Huskies… played 68 games for the 2022-23 USHL Clark Cup Champion Youngstown Phantoms alongside fellow newcomer, Sam Ranallo… added two goals, 17 assists, and 19 points… member of the 2018-19 Minnesota State Champion Edina team alongside former Tommie, Liam Malmquist.
These 15 newcomers, along with the 13 returning members of the 2024-25 team, will open the season on the road against the St. Cloud State Huskies on Saturday, October 4. After five games away from campus, the Tommies will open Lee & Penny Anderson Arena on Friday, October 24 against the Providence Friars.
