Hot shooting sends Women's Hoops to road win

Senior Hannah Spaulding finished with 23 points and seven rebounds and helped the visiting Tommies shoot 70 percent from the field in Thursday night's 99-51 win over host Macalester in MIAC women's basketball play in St. Paul.
No. 3-ranked St. Thomas (19-1 overall, 13-0 MIAC), which had a season-high scoring total, has a 1.5-game lead on idle Augsburg atop the MIAC standings with five games to play in the regular-season.
The Toms posted a 39-8 edge in bench points and sank eight baskets from 3-point range.
Lucia Renikoff sank four treys and finished with 16 points.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at Hamline (1 p.m.).
