Men's Hockey ties 1-1 against St. Mary's

St. Thomas Men's Hockey and St. Mary's skated to a 1-1 tie in the Tommies' home opener at Saint Thomas Ice Arena. The Cardinals won the shootout to claim a second point and finish with five of the six points on the weekend series.
Johnny Panvica scored in period one for the Toms (1-2-1). Kelvin Walz scored with 3:28 left in regulation for the Cardinals (2-1-1).
Benjamin Myers stopped 23 of 24 shots in 65:00 for UST. The Toms killed off all seven SMU power-play tries on the series and have killed 11 in a row this season.
St. Thomas plays at home in non-conference action next Thursday and Saturday nights against UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point.
