Men's Golf takes fifth of 12 at GAC meet

St. Thomas men's golf had rounds of 318 and 302 on Monday but fell just six shots behind co-winners Gustavus and St. John's at the 54-hole Bobby Krig Invite hosted by Gustavus.
SJU (924), Gustavus (924), St. John's No. 2 (929), UW-Eau Claire (929), UST (930), Augsburg (938), Bethel (956) and UST No. 2 (961) held the top eight team spots.
Alex Kapraun placed sixth at 229 as he closed with Monday scores of 74 and 76. Jack Riester tied for 10th at 232 with Monday scores of 80 and 75. Nick Nielsen tied for 19th at 235; and Bennett Schrieder and Alex Gabriel tied for 23rd.
Sunday story
Bennett Schroeder shot 76 on Sunday to lead Tommie men's golf into sixth place out of 12 teams at the two-day Gustavus Bobby Krig event. The 54-hole tourney will conclude with 36 holes on Monday.
Gustavus (300), St. John's (300) and Augsburg (302) hold the first three team sports. UST is six shots behind fourth-place UW-Eau Claire.
Jack Riester (77), Alex Gabriel (78), Alex Kapraun (79) and Nick Nielsen (79) rounded out the scorers.
UST's second team shot 314 and sits in seventh place, led by Sam Palmisano's 74.
