Bowe, Wergin get MIAC Softball weekly honors

Kendra Bowe (Pitcher) and McKenzie Wergin (Player) were announced Monday as MIAC Softball Athletes of the Week.It's the third career honor for Bowe who also is a three-time conference Pitcher of the Year.
Bowe, a senior from Chippewa Falls, Wis., surpassed 400 career strikeouts and won five games last week, four in relief. She went 5-0 with an 0.30 ERA and struck out 21 with one walk and 11 hits in 23.2 innings. She struck out 10 in a complete-game, two-hit shutout of UW-River Falls Sunday in a 6-0 victory. Bowe improved to 68-13 on her career.
Wergin had a walkoff two-run home run to beat Fontbonne (Mo.), 5-4. in 11 games, she batted .485 (16-for-33) with 17 runs scored and nine RBI. She finished the week with three doubles, two triples, three walks, two stolen bases and a home run. Wergin had a trio of three-hit games, and scored three runs in three different games as well. This season, Wergin is second in the MIAC in runs scored and seventh in RBI.
The No. 13-ranked Tommies came into Monday with an 11-2 record with five remaining games in Florida.
