Grant Shaeffer had 15 points and No. 3-ranked St. Thomas shot 52 percent from the floor and had only eight turnovers in Saturday's 75-41 defeat of host Hamline in MIAC men's basketball play in Hutton Arena.
The Tommies (12-1 overall, 7-1 MIAC) have won eight in a row and moved back into a first-place tie with idle St. Olaf.
Shaeffer made 6-of-7 shots and also had four assists. Marcus Alipate had 11 points and Ryan Saarela chipped in 10 on 5-of-5 shooting.
UST led 33-22 at halftime and used a 21-2 run to balloon the lead to 30 points. The Toms had a 24-5 edge in points off turnovers as they helped create 20 by the Pipers.
St. Thomas plays Monday night at Bethel and Wednesday night at St. Olaf.
