M. Basketball gets road win at Augsburg

Junior Cortez Tillman scored 11 of his game-high 16 points in the second half to lead the No. 8-ranked Tommies to Saturday's 57-40 victory over host Augsburg in MIAC men's basketball play in Minneapolis.
Junior Ryan Saarela had another double double with 11 points and 16 rebounds, and junior Jimmy Remke came off the bench to add 13 points and eight rebounds. Taylor Montero chipped in six points and seven rebounds.
The Tommies (7-1 overall, 3-1 MIAC) had a 47-29 advantage on the boards as they handed Augsburg its first loss (5-3, 3-1). They shot just 38 percent from the field and had 15 turnovers but used a 16-4 edge in second-chance points to build a cushion.
The Toms led by seven at halftime but saw its lead cut to 26-25. The Toms later led 40-34 but used a 17-6 game-closing run over the final 9:00 to pull away. UST made 8-of-9 free throws to Augsburg's 3-of-11.
St. Thomas is home Dec. 20 to face UW-Stevens Point in non-conference play.
