Shooting struggles sink W. Hoops

Alley Fisher had 18 points and the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers (11-3 overall, 9-2 MIAC) used a 42-18 game-closing run to knock off No. 12-ranked St. Thomas (11-3, 9-2) in Saturday's MIAC women's basketball play in Schoenecker Arena.
St. Thomas had a nine-game home win streak snapped dating back to last season.
Maggie Weiers had 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Tommies, which dropped back into a third-place tie in a four-way pack near the top of the MIAC standings.
Katie Stone scored 11 first-half points and finished with 15. Kelly Brandenburg added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Taylor Young chipped in 10 points.
St. Thomas made just 6-of-32 second-half shots as the Cobbers pulled away for the double-digit win.
Olivia Johnson has 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench for Concordia, which had a 41-36 rebounding advantage and overcame 18 turnovers. The Cobs outscored UST 24-9 from 3-point range and 19-11 at the foul line.
The Toms play Wednesday at Augsburg and return home next Saturday to face St. Catherine.
