Softball starts 2-2 on spring trip to Florida

The Tommie softball team has started 2-2 on its spring-break trip to Clermont, Fla., with a pair of close losses. On Saturday, UST fell 2-1 to Tufts as it managed just two hits, and won 3-2 over SUNY-New Paltz.
On Sunday, UST topped Benedictine 5-1 on the strength of three home runs in the final at bat that broke a 1-1 tie. Gregory, Gen Duffy and Jenna Hoffman all honored. The Toms fell behind William Paterson 7-1 and lost 8-6, despite two solo home runs and a third RBI hit by Gregory.
St. Thomas (6-4) plays Hope (Mich.) and Kean (N.J.) on Monday.
