Weiers' big night leads WBB past Scots

Sophomore Maggie Weiers had a game-high 22 points as the visiting Tommies (5-1 overall, 3-0 MIAC) ran their winning streak to five with Wednesday night's 68-45 win over host Macalester (2-5, 0-4) in conference action.
The Tommies shot 50 percent from the floor (27-of-54) and helped limit Mac to 27 percent shooting (13-of-48). Coach Ruth Sinn's team used a 23-4 run spanning both sides of halftime to build a 43-22 advantage.
Ali Johnson had 10 points and eight rebounds and Haley Loesch had a career-best 10 points for the Toms.
Maggie Wood had nine points and 10 boards to lead the Scots.
St. Thomas is home Saturday to face Carleton (1 p.m.).
