Volleyball sweeps Pipers, runs win streak to 14

Freshman Jill Greenfield had 10 kills and 10 digs to lead No. 11-ranked St. Thomas to a 3-0 home victory over Hamline in Wednesday night's MIAC volleyball match at Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies prevailed 25-12, 25-15, 25-15 to run their season win streak to 14 and their home-court victory string to 14. St. Thomas (27-3 overall, 9-1 MIAC) secured a top-three seed for the upcoming playoffs.
Ashley Maher had four aces and 20 assists, Kaitlain Wachter had 25 digs, and Taylor Cross had nine kills for the MIAC co-leading Tommies, who hit .258.
Sam Greeney-Hamlin had seven kills for the Pipers (9-18, 1-9).
The Tommies play at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against playoff-bound Bethel, which scored a 3-0 home win over MIAC co-leader St. Ben's. UST will take the first or second seed and get a first-round playoff bye with a victory.
