Injury costs Men's Tennis in 5-4 loss to Scots

An injury in the deciding match cost the third-seeded Tommie men in Friday's 5-4 loss to sixth-seed Macalester in the first round of the MIAC playoffs in St. Peter.
The Tommies ended their season at 11-6. Macalester (13-7) advances to play top-seed Gustavus on Saturday.
UST trailed 2-1 after doubles. The Toms won the first set in five of the singles matches but couldn't cllose out the match.
UST led 4-3 but lost a three-set decision at first singles to even the score. Kevin Walker won the opening set 6-0 at fourth singles but lost 7-6 in the second set and the was unable to continue, giving the Scots the deciding point.
Brendan O'Connell, Dan Cooper and Mitch Blackey won at 2-3-5 singles, and Andy Michels and Walker won at second doubles.
The Tommies played all April and May without injured Tyler Rice, one of their top two players.
