Late run costs Women's Hoops in NCAA road loss

Nicole Bundy scored 12 of her game-high 25 points in a game-closing 28-9 run as host UW-Whitewater pulled away to a 91-73 victory over St. Thomas in Friday night's NCAA women's basketball playoff game in Whitewater, Wis.
The Tommies (21-8) trailed 41-39 at halftime but pulled ahead 64-63 with 9:52 left as Rachel Booth converted a three-point play.
But the Warhawks (21-7) hit three 3-point baskets down the stretch to blow open a tight game. Whitewater shot 49% from the floor, had a 38-33 rebounding edge and had only 11 turnovers. Chantel Burg had 17 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and five assists.
Booth led the Tommies with 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Ali Johnson added 16 points, Sarah Smith added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Jordyn Sears scored 10 points. UST shot 47% from the floor and converted 15-of-19 free throws but had 20 turnovers.
Whitewater will face Carthage Saturday at 7 p.m for the right to reach the NCAA round of 16.
