Women Live Blog

--- With 9:08 left in the first half, the Tommie women have jumped out to a 28-15 lead. It's no surprise that Rachel Booth has been a big part of the effort already, posting 11 points, two rebounds and two blocks. The pair of blocks now give Booth 60 on the year, which sets a new school record with four conference games remaining.

--- After a three pointer from the Knights (31%), their 6:30 scoring drought was just snapped. And the Tommies (57%) have capitalized, going on a 12-0 run before that basket. With 4:59 remaining first half, St. Thomas leads 34-20.

--- As the half comes to a close, St. Thomas has held on to a double-digit lead at 41-30 over Carlton. Junior Rachel Booth leads all scorers with 13 points in 15 minutes, along with 5 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Freshman Kellie Ring has also posted an impressive line thusfar, posting 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 8 minutes, playing with a broken nose that she suffered earlier in the week. The Tommies have shot 53% as a team while the Knights have had their struggles, shooting just 35%. Just a reminder that the men will follow this game, and we'll have complete coverage. Check back for updates!

--- Jazmin Townsend has matched her seven points in the first half here with eight gone in the second half, with St. Thomas opening up their largest lead thusfar at 55-39. Townsend's season high of 15 came on Wednesday against St. Catherines. Booth has chipped in with 13 points, 6 reboounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.

--- St. Thomas has really started to pull away in this one, as it's now 67-47 with 7:33 remaining. Jazmin Townsend has just tied his career high with 15 points after going 1-2 from the line. The Tommies have continued their hot shooting, still at 50% for the afternoon to Carlton's 30%.

--- That'll do it for the Tommie women, who've just finished off Carlton, 76-59. They shot 53% for the game to the Knights 35%. What a game from Rachel Booth, who was at one time flirting with a triple double, ending up with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. It's come to a point where you can almost pencil those numbers in for her every night. The aforementioned Jazmin Townsend set a career-high with 15, Sarah Smith had 13 and Ali Johnson also had double figures with 12. Akemi Arzouman led the Knights with 16 points. The women will play Wednesday night against Bethel at the Gangelhoff Center, game-time is 7:45 P.M. Stay tuned for men's action coming up in about 20 minutes.

--- The Carleton have jumped out to an early 14-6 lead here with just under five minutes gone. They've connected on 2-3 early attempts from beyond the arc and have gone on a 8-0 run.

---The Knights have continued to use the drive and kick effectively, outscoring St. Thomas 12-0 with three balls during a several minute stretch midway through the first half. It's 24-16 Carleton with 9:27 remaining.

--- We've reached halftime here at the Gangelhoff Center with St. Thomas down 34-28 to Carleton. Tthe Tommies should find themselves fortunate to be down just six points after shooting just 1-7 from 3-point range while being out rebounded 20-13 through the first 20 minutes. Alex Healy heads St. Thomas' scoring attack with 8 points and 2 rebounds. Josh Peltier, Noah Kaiser, Sam Eicher and Teddy Archer all have 4. Knight forward Scott Theisen leads all scorers with 9 points.

--- The Tommies have closed their halftime deficit to two early in the second frame, with a chance to cut it to one pending Tyler Nicolai's free throw on an "and one." 15:57 left in the game, Carleton 39, St. Thomas 37.

--- The Tommies grabbed their first lead with just under 15 minutes left after a three pointer from Tyler Nicolai, and after Carleton responded with a basket on the other end, forward Tommy Hannon answered right back. It's now 45-42 St. Thomas with 13:05 left.

--- Somewhat of a surprising story: Joe Scott just made his first basket on a driving layup with seven minutes to go. One of the Tommies leaders scorers is now 1-10 from the field in this one, however, St. Thomas has opened up their largest lead of the game at 53-48 with 5:11 left.

--- Carleton has made it a game once again here with 1:15 to play, knotting it up at 55 before Teddy Archer knocked down one of two from the line. It's 56-55 St. Thomas in what's going to be a nail biter.

--- Anytime you miss five free throws in the final 16 seconds, chances are you can't win. Carleton did just that, and after a pair of Tyler Nicolai free throws to push the lead back to three, the Knights were forced to go the length of the court in three seconds and lofted a shot way off the mark. St. Thomas holds on to win a wild one, 58-55.

--- Nicolai came up huge in the second half, scoring 8 of his 10 points. Alex Healy lead all Tommie scorers with 13, and Teddy Archer added 9 points along with some stellar work on the defensive end. Jeremy Sutherland led all scorers with 16 points for the Knights, who now drop to 9-8 in the MIAC. St. Thomas outshot Carleton 42% to 39% for the game, despite a subpar 2-13 effort from 3-point range. With the win, St. Thomas has clinched a share of its fifth consecutive conference title, after Gustavus lost to Hamline. The men will play Wednesday night at Bethel, tip is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
