Men's Soccer opens with 1-0 victory over NWC

Sophomore Mike Hutton's second-half goal powered tlhe Tommie men's soccer team to Tuesday's 1-0 road victory over Northwestern College.
UST senior Carlos Castelan played all 90 minutes in goal and had one save. The Toms had a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Hutton's goal in the 65th minute, assisted by junior Elliot Amundson, stood up as the only score in the season-opening game for both teams. St. Thomas is 12-1 on his career in games when Hutton has scored a point.
The Tommies play Saturday in St. Peter at 4 p.m. against Pacific Lutheran (Wash.). They start their home season Monday at 3 p.m. against Whitworth (Wash.).
