Wright stays hot, leads Softball sweep of NWC

Junior Alison Wright went 6-for-7 and drove in five runs and Kaitlyn Wightman went 5-for-6 to lead No. 4-ranked St. Thomas to a 17-6, 13-0 sweep of Northwestern College in non-conference softball play Wednesday in the Rosemount Dome. Both games were halted after five innings.
Morgan Betker had two homers, a double and five RBI for the Tommies (16-2), who extended their winning streak in the Rosemount Dome to 31 games. UST had 18 hits in each game.
Marta Radcliffe started each game and pitched five innings total. She struck out 10 of 17 batters she faced and allowed no walks and no hits. The Toms held the Eagles (3-15) to one hit in game two.
Wright raised her season average to .580 and extended her hitting streak to 29 games dating back to last season. Wightman increased her average to .420 and now has scored 24 runs in 18 games.
Steph Moores went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs to reach 30 RBI on the season.
The Toms are scheduled to open MIAC play Thursday against Macalester in a 4 p.m. twinbill. Check back Thursday morning to see the status of that twinbill.
