Toms even season mark at 1-1

Freshman Kara Ledel had two first-period goals and freshman Jill Kobow had a goal and two assists to lead No. 8-ranked St. Thomas to a 4-2 victory over visiting UW-Eau Claire in non-conference women's hockey play Saturday night in Mendota Heights.

Junior Courtney Sekevitch also scored a goal for the Tommies (1-1), who broke to a 4-0 lead just 3:21 into the second period.

The Blugolds (0-2) used Martina Korinek's power-play goal with less than one second left in the second period to make it 4-1. They moved closer at 4-2 just 1:49 into the final period on Margaret Campbell's goal.

But Tommie goalie Katie Jetland made some key saves down the stretch and the Toms kept their two-goal cushion. Jetland stopped 22 of 24 shots.

The Tommies play two games next weekend at Lake Forest (Ill.).
