Women's Basketball gets first victory as Opdahl shines

St. Thomas 83, Lasell (Mass.) 61
Erica Opdahl had 25 points and 13 rebounds for her 21st career double-double and the Tommies (1-1) broke a school record for 3-point baskets in Saturday's 83-61 women's basketball victory over Lasell in the third-place game at the Salem State tournament.
Opdahl recorded her 500th career rebound in her 80th game.
It was the first career victory for UST head coach Ruth Sinn. The Toms made 11-of-23 3-pointers, breaking a 14-year-old school record of 10 set vs. Hamline.
Junior Melissa Keiser went 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and finished with 15 points and six assists. Newcomers Jessica Katch, Chelsea Wirtz and Anna Swanson each made two 3-pointers. Katch added 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.
UST, which lost 62-52 in Friday's season opener to Montclair State, outrebounded Lasell 61-24.
