Chuck Hiller

Chuck Hiller graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in 1956. He was a four-year letterman for Tommie baseball, hitting .576 as a junior. He led the team to the 1956 MIAC Baseball Championship and eventually signed a pro contract with the Cleveland Indians. He batted .243 with 20 home runs in eight seasons in the major leagues with four teams. He played for the San Fransisco Giants, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. In Game 4 of the 1962 World Series against the Yankees, he hit the National League's first World Series grand slam. After retirement, Hiller was a coach under Whitey Herzon for Texas, Kansas City, and St. Louis.
